Alhaurin el Grande is a good place to try spanish tapas and to attend many cultural activities like jazz, flamenco festivals and the feria in June, processions in Semana Santa (Easter), and sport activities like tennis, golf in three courses or trekking in Sierra de Mijas and Cártama.
Worth a visit is the small church and the ancient moorish tower in Torrealqueria with its famous gardens. Also the moorish mill in Alhaurin el Grande, (where Gerald Brenand lived and died), and the impossible rock shapes in El Torcal.

The Costa del Sol with Torremolinos and Benalmádena is very close, as is Málaga with its cultural tourism in Gibralfaro castle, moorish palace Alcazaba, the majestic Cathedral and now the Picasso Museum.
Good places for day trip sight-seeing are Ronda, Granada and Marbella. |
