Alhaurin el Grande is set back slightly from the coast at the foot of the slopes of the Sierra de Mijas next to the valley of the Guadalhorce River. It is a traditional part of Andalucia where properties are slightly cheaper than beach resorts like Benalmadena and Fuengirola.
